Hello. As I mentioned before (reddit/ here), I found many of you took my works with or without edits and claimed the whole thing. I am here to say DON'T USE MY WORKS if you are not planning to give me credit.
Before talking about the incident, I am here to ask you not to send hate to anyone mentioned below, since it is not personal (it is a regular problem that has existed in the community for years) and the whole incident is solved.
This week I found Mugen_Verse (aka MugenVerse) @ MugenFreeForAll took my works, SailorPluto(09Apr2011) and a Chibi Moon sprite (https://tsukino-ai.blogspot.com/2011/04/updates.html), and made his own, titled Hyper Sailor Pluto by MugenVerse and Sailor Chibi Moon by MugenVerse. To my Sailor Pluto, he inserted screenshots of the Dead Scream animation and of the Chronos Typhoon by sabeesquesii@YouTube, 321 frames in total. The Chibi Moon he taken is originally made by Poshphysylocke, with my Chibi Moon standing sprite inserted. He shared on the forum MugenFreeForAll and said "I made Sailor Pluto ARCADE And I made Sailor Chibi Moon ARCADE (it is still on alpha since I don't have enough sprites)".
Approaching him, I found that he wanted to make his own characters by not drawing, but simply taking things from others. There are several problems.
1/ Missing credits/ placed inappropriately. He named the whole thing with his name. No other name is found until you study the files in it, given that not all people will look into the files. I even found my name nowhere in the Chibi Moon files.
2/ Taking my works and sharing without acknowledging they are mine or they are his updates. He, MugenVerse, is not the only one doing this. His friend, Henry HSM (Hyper Sailor Moon), did the same thing over 3 years on YouTube. Many others in fact did the similar thing too, saturneternal took my animations, sekenio updated my characters.
I am no CAPCOM, no Nintendo. People won't recognize me when they see my works. As a small creator, I have been very upset that my latest works cannot reach my audience since my works are basically everywhere. MUGEN is indeed free for all. You can access tons of amazing works but it doesn't mean you can use them whatever you want. Please do know the boundaries.
Some people left very nice comments on my blog, on my YouTube channel, then took my works that I spent ages to make and claimed them. It seems the supports are just words, meaningless. l had left for a couple times because of this. Sharing my works for free brought me nothing, no recognition, no money. Therefore, the beta of my new game I am going to release will be free, but not the full game or other games in the future.
I hope this is the last post taking about this issue. DON'T USE MY WORKS if you are not planning to give me credit. Period.
There's a reason on why we (MugenVerse and HenryHSM) do all of those. Over the years we've been a fan of https://www.youtube.com/user/MultiV28 his creations are really outstanding and the edits are spot on. And we wanted to make one like adding attacks from the series. But we cannot compare his work to ours that we stopped making one. We didn't mean to steal from you. I added (by MugenVerse) because I'm making a full game consisting of everything I've found that is Sailor Moon related. So I added the authors beside the character name.

DeleteThere is nothing wrong about the reason. And I know you didn’t take my works intentionally. But it is still plagiarism and it is still wrong. You want to make your own game. Very nice, please do. But please draw your own sprites. You can use those from the official arcade game. They are enough for your characters. You can always cut the limbs and place wherever you want to make your new sprites. Simple photoshop. Even recolour all sprites like I did. Just don’t use mine.

ReplyDeleteHello. It's strange that finally talk to you. I'm not sad because I have already seen too many edits of my works over all these years, tho it is the main issue.
DeleteI started editing by using sakuraka's characters and I clearly stated "originally made by sakuraka and updated by AkagiK" in the description. This lasted until I redid the coding, redrew the sprites. So I am amazed that people can add minimal tiny things and then claim the whole thing. In the past, I would have given permission if someone had asked and offered credits, since I had used others’ works. But it is tricky for Mugen. It's a whole set of works, drawing, coding... No one knows which part belong to whom. And no one wants to read a reference list like reading an essay.
And I'm annoyed, being asked for permission to use my works for several times while the answer is crystal clear.
So it comes to the decision that I don't want people to use my works anymore. This blog is a statement of it. I put efforts into my works and I do not allow others take them from me. It is that simple. Honestly, please do learn what plagiarism is.

DeleteSo, what your saying is that to prevent other people from claiming your work and giving you actual recogntion, you have to buy your fangames later on. Uh, I think I'd rather avoid that and figure out another solution because of 2 reasons:

2. Fangame and buyable DO NOT MIX AT ALL!

Honey. You should go search for artists who are selling the Sailor Moon fanarts they made. To be specific, you can find tons artists selling ONLY sprites or characters on patreon. Then, why not a game? haha
DeleteI am not sure the meaning of "your not really supposed to use this for commercial purposes". Like a legal thing or what? But go see minicouture, go see other artists who make anime stuff. Most all sell their own works, like globally. (❁´◡`❁)
And WAIT. How could I forgot 森本宇宙一 and Sprite Team??? One made MOON SOLDIER S. M. S. X. and II. Another made Super Moon Fighter and Super Moon Fighter X, each sold at 1,457 yen. These are AMAZING GAMES! How dare me? I'm sorry. 🙌 Well, we got works that are both fangame and buyable ages ago. So... yay. I can 😈💅
